The Tennis Club
1960s- Once the Irvine Coast Racquet Club, a 6-court facility, annexed by the Balboa Bay Club, a private club and playground to Hollywood’s Lauren Bacall, Johnny Carson, and of course our very own Newport Beach icon John Wayne.
1967- Renamed The Balboa Bay Club Racquet Club, it established itself as a premier tennis venue for professional and amateur tournaments in the 70s’ & 80’s with competitors like Roy Emerson, Rod Laver, Billie Jean King, Jack Kramer and Arthur Ashe.
2009- Affiliation with Balboa Bay Club ended and became The Tennis Club at Newport Beach/TTC, a site for Pacific Southwest, War by the Shore, and Adoption Guild of Orange County.
The Tennis Club hosts World Team Tennis, featuring tennis super stars Maria Sharapova, John McEnroe, and the Bryan Brothers.
2015 – Nick Bollettieri introduces Sean Bollettieri-Abdali as the new owner of The Tennis Club at Newport Beach. Sean brings the first ITF tournament to Orange County and names it Newport Beach Bowl Junior World Tennis Championships.
2019- Sean brings back the Adoption Guild event to TTC and in addition the Oracle ITA Fall Nationals.
2020- The Tennis Club builds 12 Pickleball courts and becomes one of the premier private clubs in the world to offer a Pickleball Membership. TTC becomes the main site for Adoption Guild and an official UTR site.
